The Quicktime Streaming Server (ustream.wcu.edu) can be used to stream audio and video using Apple’s quicktime formats as well as to host flash files.
Any video file you would like to be streamed using quicktime needs to be “hinted.” There are a number of ways to generate a hinted file. The easiest way is to use Apple’s Quictime Pro software. This software is available in the Faculty Sandbox as well as the following computer labs, FPAC 248, FPAC 256, Killian 268.
1. Open your file in Quicktime Pro and choose Export from the File Menu.
2. In the Export Dialog, choose Movie to Hinted Movie from the Export pop-up Menu, and then click the options button.
3. Make sure the all of the checkboxes are clicked. This will create a hinted movie that is ready to be streamed from the server.
