If you have a Sony miniDVD based camera with an unfinalized disk, here is how you get the content off and converted to an mp4 video to be used in iTunes U, a wiki, or blog. These videos can also be placed in a web accessible directory like Paws, Claws or an fpamediaserver home folder's Sites folder.
Steps to convert video
- Plug Camera into computer using USB cable
- Launch the Sony "Import Media Files." It is on the CD that came with the camera
- The camera should be found automatically, if not, choose it from the Drive pop-up menu.
- Select the clips you want to import, and click next.
- Set Destination location for imported video and click import.
- Once video is imported, the software might ask you to optimize, close this window and the browser that opens next.
- Launch the Agree Video convertor, available from: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/win/161643
- Drag imported video into the Video convertor window.
- If you are using the software in Free mode, you will have to continue to click through dialogue boxes asking you to upgrade
